Radio is 44" high, has all tubes, wiring, components, etc.. Needs some work to get it operational, it turned on several years ago. Small hole on left side in fabric. Body is in average condition.
Acquired it in 1990 from a private owner. Plugged it in a few times, the light went on, tubes looked "live". Did not get sound.
Hi Brad,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Most of the ones that come to auction these days are in some disrepair; it's almost unheard of for them to be in clean working condition (that would actually cause a few raised eyebrows and some concern that something was amiss). A similar one sold about 5 years ago for $270; it doesn't indicate the condition of that one but I think yours is a little nicer (here's the link: https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/33695373_stromberg-carlson-vintage-radio)
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An Art Deco mahogany veneered "Acoustical Labyrinth" upright floor radio
Made by Stromberg-Carlson, circa 1930s
With mahogany veneers and silk backing.
44 inches high
CONDITION: puncture to fabric; needs repairs
PROVENANCE: acquired in 1990
$300-500*
