Thank you for your appraisal submission. The work is an Impressionist style landscape oil painting on canvas. It depicts a house on the coast with sailboats in the background. The work is signed "Swan" to the lower right corner. It measures 14 x 12 inches in the frame. We were able to find other works with a matching signature, but identification of the artist is documented, therefore the work remains unattributed. From the images provided, the painting is in good condition with minor discoloration to the surface. Impressionist style works of this type are common to the mid-late 20th century, including many factory artists working under pseudonyms.

Without an artist attribution, the Fair Market Value of this painting is estimated based on sales trends of stylistically similar works of the same age. Fortunately, due to many works of this style being created by unknown artists or factory artists, the buyer demand is based primarily on painting quality and composition, rather than artist. Looking at these sales trends, few paintings of Impressionist style coastal towns sell over $100, with many of them passing. Another painting by Swan is currently listed for $112, but unsold. Therefore, we estimate the FMV of this piece between $0 and $200.
