The gun was given to me by my father and given to him by his father. The story is it’s been in the family “for hundreds of years” It’s an over under rifle that rotates. One barrel is smooth, the other barrel is rifled. Looks to be atleast .35 cal. It has a compartment on the right side of the rear stock that opens up. I can’t find any markings on the gun anywhere.
Barrel is 33in Gun is 48in
My grandfather, who I never met, gave it to my father. My grandfather told him it has been in the family for “hundreds of years”
Dear Ronald,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a 19th-century swivel breech percussion rifle with a 35 cal. The lockplate is not stamped by the marker or we see proof or acceptance marks. It was probably made in North America. The stock has brass fittings.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 250 to 500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
