Tapestry in a gold leaf frame approximately 5 feet width & 4 feet in height
My parents
This is a vintage 1st half of the 20th century, machine loomed and framed, decorative wall art tapestry. Tapestries are made with a warp and a weft. The original purpose of tapestries in the Gothic, Medieval and Renaissance eras were to be used as large wall coverings in castles, or insulation, during the cold winter seasons. At that time, a tapestry would have been worth more than the gold and silver in an estate. This is a much smaller, scaled down, modern, machine produced version. There is fading to the dyes used from exposure to light and air. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
