I was given this tapestry. Still in great condition. Measures 31" x 43" with frame. Gold frame. Professionally stretched and framed.
Given to me by grandparent. She had inherited it.
This is a framed tapestry piece. The theme or subject is based on the art style movement referred to as "Orientalism". Although the name may imply an asian theme, Orientalism is the depiction of Middle Eastern and Arabian scenes. From the images the tapestry was machine woven and not hand woven. The framed object dates to the early 20th century and is not an older tapestry, which were generally large wall-sized and used to cover large walls during the cold season to help insulate the wall. It was possibly produced in France, though without a tag or label where it was produced cannot be definitively stated. In this case, it is best to refer to this as 'Continental', meaning it was produced in a European country. The estimate is based on actual past auction sales of comparables.
