Each and every piece is hand painted in the same theme, but different pictures. The cups are extremely fragile, almost translucent.
I bought this set from an antique store in Alabama about 50 years ago.
This is a late 19th to early 20th century, Victorian era, late Meiji Period eggshell china tea set from Japan. The mark on the underside phonetically translates to 'Nichi Hon Nippon' or Made in Nippon. Nippon is the Japanese word for Japan. There are quite a few of these available on the current market, as they were generally produced for export. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables.
