The mark on the underside phonetically translates to 'Nichi Hon Nippon' or Made in Nippon. Nippon is the Japanese word for Japan. There are quite a few of these available on the current market, as they were generally produced for export. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables.
