Teak mirror with ledge. It was purchased in Copenhagen, I believe, in the 1960s. It has been since been re-stained a slightly darker shade of brown. Tongue and groove corners. Very good condition, but not perfect. It could be the same as this one: https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/mirrors/pier-mirrors-console-mirrors/midcentury-danish-modern-teak-mirror-shelf/id-f_34426222/
17.5 wide x 29.5 high x 1.5 inches deep and 5 inches deep at the bottom with the ledge
Hi Henry,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Thank you for the 1stDibs link, which I agree is similar, though that one has a slightly different and more streamlined frame that's more in keeping with Danish Modern design. Note that the price on that one - $2,200 - is a (high) retail price whereas the prices Mearto uses are Fair Market and based on auction results. Ones I've found that have recently sold at auction that have shelves along the bottom and are of similar size have brought prices at auction ranging from $200-400.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Midcentury Modern style teakwood mirror with shelf
possibly made in Scandinavia, circa 1960s
Of rectangular section with dovetailed corners, the bottom frame extends as a shelf.
29-1/2 inches high by 17-1/2 inches wide; shelf is 5 inches deep.
CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
$ 200-400*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
