small silver plate, 1800's American
Bought from a swap meet
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The item appraised is an ovoid-form tea pot, with tapering top to lid and U-form handle. The marks on the underside indicate that it is silverplate, but I am unable to identify the "M & H" maker's mark. I have looked at various resources and can't correlate the mark exactly to any established makers. The tea pot is likely from the last quarter of the 19th century - first quarter of the 20th century.
Unfortunately, there isn't much demand for silverplate, unless it has historical significance. The estimate is for fair market, auction value.
