8” x 11” Appears to be sterling, but is unmarked. Has matching large sugar bowl (covered, unhinged) and large creamer.
My mother was an avid collector and likely bought it from a Northern Va dealer (Kitty’s Antiques) in the mid-1970’s.
Dear Nora,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An American three-piece Colonial style silver plated tea set
Comprising tea pot, cream pitcher and covered sugar
With gadrooned sides and wooden handles. Underside of tea pot scratch marked 'L.W.'
Provenance: acquired from Kitty's Antiques, Northern Virginia, circa 1970s
$125-175
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto.
I think these must be silver-plated then, and will value as such.
I’ve been over all three pieces with a loop and can’t identify anything. Some evidence of repairs. L.W with a raised period after the W. That seems to have been added later.
