Teddy Bear I believe 90 to 100 years old
My father
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a wonderful and much loved teddy bear. Such antique toys are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
Your teddy bear appears to have had a wonderful life with many hugs and cuddles. Unfortunately these signs of wear and tear decreased a sales value. The teddys fur is mohair and has a lovely honey colour. The stuffing is probably sawdust. The teddy is from the first quarter of the 1900s. As teddys were very popular worldwide it is hard to determine the manufacturer and country of origin. However I would suggest that the teddy was made in England or Germany.
As for the value the condition is unfortunately pulling in the wrong direction and the teddy has a low value compared to its age.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online toys auction, where I believe the teddybear has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the lovely teddy. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
