This appears to be a lithograph text. It comes from India (Jaipur) and contains 53 illustrations of horses in various postures. Some are horses alone while others are horses with riders or tenders. The remaining pages are text which may or may not be related to the subject of horses. The paper is thin and brittle. There are breaks and stains. All illustrations are pretty intact and clear. The language appears to be Arabic or Persian but I am not sure. This came to me from a dealer from Jaipur and I have had it for about a year or so. It appears that a cover is missing (I don't know if front or back) and there may be missing pages although I think the text is fairly complete. While other pages are text, several have horizontal lines which are colored. I don't know the age but it appears to have been around for some time. Around 140 pages. 26 x 18 cm

Dear William,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal
The presented object appears to be a book with printed illustrations with 140 pages with the measurements of 26 x 18 cm. This book is about riding and horses as we can see clearly from the printed illustrations. It was made in the 19th century highly probably in the North of India in the region of Rajasthan or Jaipur.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in bad to medium condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided. Some pages appear to be illustrated by a child.
A fair market estimation would be between 50 to 100 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
