oil painting 50 in. x 39 1/2 in. by Ken Tielkemeier from 2005
Florence , Italy painted by my father
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a painting by Ken Tielkemeier (1929 - 2007) an american born artist who worked in Italy.
The colourful painting measures approximately 50x40 inches and depicts a scene in a Cafe in Florence. Very few of the artist´s painting have been offered at auction, a market value can not be established from these few results. A catalogue raisonné and a few encouraged auction results would help to increase the value of his paintings. The estimate is based on auction results of similar paintings by lesser known artists.
Yes, exactly. Your father´s painting from 1958 is ahead of its time, a figural expressionism which would attract bids from collectors. You should start selling a few paintings in selected auction houses and slowly establish a market value. Buyers like to see auction results, so they can buy with confidence.
Thank you so much....which auction houses would you suggest?
I would chose an auction house in the area where your father lived and worked. Find a nice frame for the painting, find a buyer for it and put if up for auction nonetheless, the sale has to be public and make sure the results are listed on the net. Just make sure the painting gets sold and slowly build a market for your father´s paintings. Good luck!
I don't understand why another painting of his that I submitted on april 24th was given a value of 1500 to 3000$....?? Is the difference due to the age of the previous painting??
