First Annual edition coins 2” across
From a 1998 Convention
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and information provided, the subject of this appraisal is NOS (new old stock) of commemorative coins presumably handed out to attendees of The Highland Mint's inaugural SportsFest convention/festival held in 1998. From the photographs, approximately 100 coins were identified, but the size of the two boxes photographed indicate that hundreds of additional coins may be present in the collection.
Unfortunately this convention coin is not particularly valuable or sought after by collectors - it is presumed that attendees got a copy for attending. Although copies of this particular coin can be acquired in bulk for asking prices in the $1 to $2 per coin range on sites like eBay as of the time of writing, no recent confirmed sales of such collections are noted. There simply doesn't seem to be a hot market for this issue. For appraisal purposes, a Fair Market Value per coin would be $.25 per coin. Based on the approximately 100 to 110 coins visually counted in the photo, the Fair Market Value of the coins confirmed present in this collection is a total of $25 to $30 USD.
