Cappadocia sat on the Silk Road, the great trade route linking China with Byzantium and later the Islamic world. From at least the Byzantine period (4th–15th centuries), Cappadocia was a transit point for silk and also a center of silk weaving. Local workshops produced silks both for liturgical (church use) and secular luxury textiles.

I'm sorry to tell you this but the current fair-market value on that framed silk carpet panel is no-where near what you paid for it in 2020; it's a shame the gallery is no longer in business because this is an example of someone paying far more than what it was worth, though if you could afford it and enjoyed it in the 5 years you've owned it, I suppose that's worth something.

Most panels of this size and composition have never sold at auction for more than $1,000, with most examples bringing prices between $200 and $300.
