Frame is 30.5" w x 34.5" H. Full description of what we know about it, and about the artist, is on the letter attached to this query. I know the artist was a nun in Baltimore who also taught art at a Catholic Academy there around 1900.
See attached letter.
Dear Mary,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a few better images of the reverse side of this painting.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Mary,
Thank you for the additional information and your patience.
The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil paint on canvas with the measurements of 30 x 20 inches. The painting depicts the Mother Mary with Christ holding and reading the Bible. This painting was made after an older idol of the 17th century around 1900. The idol was probably and Spanish or Italian painting.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 150 to 300 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Hi Georg,
Can you direct me to a comparable piece?
Mary
Dear Mary,
Sadly copies and paintings made in the style of the Baroque are not very requested on the market. This estimation is adapted to closed databases of auction hammer prices.
With kind regards,
Georg
Hello Georg,
I added a picture of the backside. I know it was re-framed (per the letter). I will get you size today as well.
Mary
