Original pen and ink drawing with wash on wove paper. Signed by the artist with initials lower right. c. 1900 75mm x 90 mm. The title of the painting - "Tenanciere"
unknown provenance
Although this does come with a "Certificate of Authenticity" the veracity of the document is dubious. The pen and wash medium is not typical of his sketches (most were done in charcoal or just wash) and the TS monogram initials are not a match to monogram on known pieces. This is likely not an original work by Theophile Alexandre Steinlen from 1900.
Hi Nora. Yes there was an authenticity certificate provided by Global Fine Art. Where they actually got the picture from I'm not sure...most probably from the private collection of Urbain Huchet. I don't know how to download the cert to you right here (computer illiterate) but I can send it back to you where I got your email from.
Thanks.
Did this come with any certificate of authenticity?
