These glass Persian decanters were purchased in Iran by my parents sometime between 1974 and 1977. They are in excellent condition, except the yellow one has a broken stopper (as shown in the photo).
The purple decanter is 22 x 7.5 inches. The blue decanter is 21 x 6.5 inches. The yellow decanter is 15 x 5 inches.
Hi Taji,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
These are three Bohemian enameled glass decanters or "genie" bottles in the Orientalist style; while they may have been purchased in Iran, it's possible - indeed probable - that they were made in Italy or in the Czech republic, where enameled and gilt glass was made in great amounts.
Individual ones can retail for between $400 and $600 but at auction, they usually sell for between $150 and $250, depending on size, condition and degree of decoration. Your two larger ones each have a fair-market value of $200-300 while the smaller one is worth $100-150, largely because of the damage to its stopper.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A group of three Bohemian Orientalist enameled and parcel gilt hand-blown glass decanters or "genie bottles".
European, probably Italian Czechoslovakia, early/mid 20th Century
Each of circular section and bulbous form, with ring-turned necks and tall pointed stoppers, the bodies profusely decorated with colorful enamel and gilding, unsigned.
Purple decanter: 22 inches tall; 7-1/2 inches diameter
Blue decanter: 21 inches tall; 6-1/2 inches diameter
Yellow decanter: 15 inches tall, 5 inches diameter
CONDITION: The two taller bottles/decanters appear to be in good condition; the smaller yellow one with breaks to the stopper.
PROVENANCE: Inherited; originally purchased in Iran in the 1970s
$ 500-750 for the group*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
