What does this mean?

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an african tribal mask, used by the Chokwe or Tschokwe or Côkwe in "mukanda" initiation camps for boys. During the camp mukishi or makishi (masks) are made from raffia, burlap, natural pigments or other materials available. This particular type is known as a Kalelwa Mask. Usually these masks are burned after the Mukunda camp, as part of the ceremony. This appears to be rather rare mask and not so called "airport art" as most of the african masks available. A detailed report where you bought the mask would possibly increase the value. The estimate is based on similar masks sold at auction. "Asking Prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
