Dear Robert,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The item presented appears to be a large acrylic painting on canvas by the American artist called Seymour Pearlstein (1923-2012). The work measures 51⅝"(h) x 67½"(w), and is signed on the lower left. According to the information provided, it was directly purchased from the artist, and it comes with the COA signed by the artist and dated 1982. This work was exhibited several times, such as the FAR Gallery in New York. The work appears to be in excellent condition overall.
Unfortunately, after checking our records it seems that this particular artist is rarely offered on the auction market, and the most recent auction result that we have is for a watercolor sold in 2017. Therefore, the estimate highlighted in red has been based according to the following criteria, which are the most recent existing auction market, medium, subject work’s size, the composition and the condition based on photographs and comments provided. For your information, an earlier work by this artist is currently being sold on eBay for $600.
In many cases, please note that pricing for similar items available on the primary (retail) market vary and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
Best regards,
Karine
