Was purchased in Turkey while on a family holiday. Been in my family 35+ years. Never on display.
Dear John,
Thank you for the additional photos, and sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Your Turkish prayer rug is in good condition and was made in the late 20th century. It has been handwoven out of silk using a Turkish knot method. This means that each knot is double knotted on the backside and can have anywhere between 500 and 1000 knots per inch. The centerfield of your rug displays a niche design, which represents the Mihrab. Surrounding the centerfield design are arabesques, which is a common element in Turkish rugs along with script. Based on recent price realizations for rugs similar, a fair market estimate would be between 500 and 1500 USD.
Thanks,
Morgan
Dear Morgan,
I had sent the additional pictures you requested the A.M. on April 10th. Was checking that you received them.
Cheers,
John
