Dear Thomas,
Thank you for your contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The item presented appears to be an oil painting, possibly from the middle of the 20th century, executed by an American painter. It measures 14"(h) x 11"(w). The work is unsigned. This is a portrait of the American Deputy Marshal Bass Reeves.
Unfortunately, I was unable to identify the artist of this painting, I am afraid. If you have any further information (such as the Facebook page it was taken from), let me know, and I will be happy to research further.
Therefore, the estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and similar American portrait paintings without artist attribution, dating from the 1950s onwards. The current condition (based on photographs supplied) has been taken into consideration when determining the estimate.
Best regards,
Karine
Dear Thomas,
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
Unfortunately, after searching Charles Isaac Wilson, I am sorry to say that I could not find any similar artist in our records. It seems to me that an obscure artist has executed the painting that you own.
Therefore, the estimate I gave you a few days ago remains the same.
Best regards,
Karine
