What does this mean?

Dear Steven,

Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto.

The item is a 1886 woodblock print triptych by Toyohara Kunichika (1835-1900) titled "Flowery Monk and Nine-Tattoo Dragon". Kunichika has become a very collectible artist, notably for his groundbreaking reinvention of the theatre triptych in the 1890’s and his earlier portrait series such as Mirror of the Flowering of Manners and Customs

The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of this work and other comparable reprinted woodblocks triptychs. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report.

Please note asking or dealer prices may vary.
