This is an antique, 19th century, Victorian era, post-Civil War, 1868, printing of the non-fiction book entitled "A Personal History of Ulysses S. Grant, Illustrated By Twenty-Six Engravings, Eight Facsimiles of Letters.....with a Portrait and a Sketch of Schuyler Colfax" that was distributed by the American Publishing Company. The 'autograph' by Grant on the frontispiece is auto-pen and part of the print, it is not an actual signature by hand. A previous owner name is added in inkwell pen on the front end paper of the book, which does not impact value. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables.
