Pastel, approximately 14” x 18”, European origin maybe, framed in Eureka Ca back in the 40s? No signature just initials M?

What does this mean?

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an early 20th century pastel of the famous Romeo and Juliet balcony Scene. The composition is quite professional, the execution is good but might be the work ( copy ? ) of a very talented amateur artist , signed with monogram "M.H." I don´t think it will be possible to identify the artist. France has a long tradition of pastel painters, but at the same time many amateur artists used this easy to work with technique. The estimate is based on similar romantic pastels by lesser known artists sold at auction.
