Hello Mark,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is a Machine Made Industrial Rug with Oriental Patterns. The piece dates back to the period from 1990 to 2010. The piece is not a ahnd knotted piece and therefore does not have an artistic value. The origin of the machine made pieces are very hard to determine without a label or a clear provenance because they could be producced anywhere regardless of the motifs and pattern. The production place is most probably not Turkey or Iran but more likely Africa, India or Pakistan. The motifs of the piece appeasr to be simplified Turkish Kilim patterns with modern interpretations as well. The fringes are made of cotton but the main body material might be a wool mixture fiber, not pure wool. Ram horns are used a lot on the pattern as well as the star motifs at the center and scorpion motifs at the two vertical ends. No collectable value. The piece is in good condition without any significant problems.
