Airbrushed painting on illustration board measuring 27.5" width and 22" high, signed & dated by artist.
The artist, Walter Robinson, gave it to Gallery Director of Semaphore Gallery, NYC Annie Herron who later gifted it to myself. Two owners only outside of the artist.
This is an airbrush and stencil work by contemporary Neo-Pop artist, Walter Robinson (b. 1950) from 1983 that is done in the style of Mid 20th century pulp and romance novel illustration covers. In the 1980's Walter Robinson was a rising Art Star in the NYC Gallery scene, however he changed tack and went from creating art to becoming a fairly well-known art critic. Only recently has he returned to the sphere of creating art and there was an exhibition of his "Romance Pictures" from the 1980s at Metro Pictures Gallery in 2008. His works tend to carry higher 'asking prices' in NYC galleries than they do on the secondary art auction market. Vito Schnabel also sells his 1980's romance series paintings through his gallery. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
Yes, the winter was really crazy for two weeks there. Please identity yourself & visit my bungalow in Erie. I have retained my apt. in Williamsburgh for the last twenty five years. I returned to Erie 18 months ago. Are you interested in this painting? Let me know as you could easily view it first hand.
After 9 years in Manhattan I de-camped back to NWPA and am now in Jamestown, PA. We missed the snow-mageddon you had in Erie simply because of the wind direction! I do not broker or sell items that I appraise, so I would have to step back on any interest in it. I do suggest contacting Vito Schnabel Gallery (Julian Schnabel's son) as he may have interest in selling this for you. Metro Pictures, although a big Chelsea Gallery, may have a client request list for Robinson's work. Lucky you with a bungalow in Wmbg - place sure has changed!
I have a bungalow in Erie just blocks from the lake and a two bedroom apt. in Williamsburg. Do you have any contact address' you could share for Vito and/or Metro? Most appreciated.

My specialty is American Illustration Art as well I have worked with Metro Pictures Gallery and familiar with Walter Robinson and Vito Schnabel from when I worked for the London-based contemporary art magazine, Art Review.
