Marked: AMERICANA SILVERPLATE, AD ( conjoined) I AM MOST INTERESTED IN LEARNING ABOUT THE HISTORY AND LOCATION OF MANUFACTURER
3” high, 2.75”diameter at rim, 2” diameter at base
Hi Ronald,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I'm not able to find any company named "Americana Silverplate" or one using the AD initials in either an online search or in any of my silverplate reference guides, which suggests to me it was a company of very modest production that simply didn't make much of a historical impression.
Your toothpick holder is in the Colonial Revival style, a period of design aesthetics that began around 1876, at the time of the 100th birthday of the founding of the US. It was nostalgia-driven, noting historical roots and advocating a lifestyle based on an idealized idea of what life was like in Colonial America. The form is similar to the campagna urns commonly depicted during the Federal period but toothpick forms are a mid 20th Century invention.
Regrettably, the market for silverplated articles - even large ones by very famous makers - is quite soft now and I would be surprised to see this sell for even $40 at auction.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

Hi Ronald,
I looked and didn't see either of those - if you can send me the links I'll take a look and see how this compares to those.
Thanks,
Delia
FYI. I HAVE FOUND TWO IDENTICAL PIECES ON EBay, same markings,
