Bought in Murano, not sure who artist is Bottom of Vase has following engraving: veart 26 83
base diameter = 5 3/8 inches, top diameter = 3 1/4 inches height = 11 1/2 inches
Hi Terrence,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
VEART isn't a known maker; rather I think the inscription has been rubbed enough that the first part is no longer readable. Also, the number "26 83" doesn't make sense but I propose the first number is a 1, making this the date "1983."
Either way, this vase is not made by a prominent Murano artisan whose work would be significantly valuable; instead, it was made most likely by a large studio with a large production made for the export (tourist) market. It uses thin sheets of gilding applied within a faceted frosted mold.
Most unattributed Murano glass vases of this size and mid/late 20th Century age usually sell at auction between $200 and $300
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
Murano School, circa 1983
Faceted frosted vase
Of both circular and faceted section with tall cylindrical neck and faceted base, with sheets of gilding applied over a mat-green cased vessel and frosted white base. Indistinctly inscribed
5-3/8 inches
CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition.
PROVENANCE: Acquired by a gallery or dealer.
$ 200-300*
