Hi Christopher,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The 1987 World Champion Los Angeles Lakers were noteworthy as the peak of the “Showtime” era and one of the greatest teams in NBA history. Coached by Pat Riley, they went 65–17 in the regular season and defeated the Boston Celtics 4–2 in the Finals, exorcising the Lakers’ long-standing Boston rivalry demons.
Magic Johnson, in his finest season, won league MVP and famously sealed Game 4 in Boston Garden with his improvised “junior sky hook.” Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, at age 40, remained dominant and earned Finals MVP, underscoring his unprecedented longevity. The roster—featuring James Worthy, Byron Scott, and Michael Cooper—embodied fast-break brilliance, depth, and swagger.
Culturally, the 1987 Lakers defined 1980s NBA glamour: Hollywood, flair, and winning on the biggest stage.
This shirt would have been made AFTER the Lakers won the championship and sold at the stadium the following season(s). I've found a couple of other examples of this shirt being offered for sale online for around $50 and one that sold at auction for $10.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
