Car coat is 33" from shoulder to bottom hem. Sleeve length is 23". The coat is beautifully tailored of very heavy charcoal black wool. The coat is in excellent condition, no moth holes, tears or other flaws. A few small stains on sating lining. The coat has not been dry cleaned.
I bought this coat around 1970 at a vintage clothing shop in Burbank, California. I had a lot of fun wearing it, but never did know the provenance of the jacket. For all I know, it could have been from a studio wardrobe department. I would love to know something about it. I hesitated to pick the sports memorabilia category, because to me it's always been a fashion item. Kathleen
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a custom made woolen jacket. The design very much resembles chinese designs of the mid 20th century. The imperial yellow colour lining might have been the tailor´s choice, as it is the most prestigious colour in China. The humorous design and the lettering on the back is hand stitched, also the owner´s name "Wayne". The tailor´s name "Universal custom tailor" does not ring a bell, the logo is quite different to the Universal Studios logo. Unfortunately this "Wayne" who once was a member of the Pharaohs Souther California Car Club is not identifiable.
