I have a vintage 18k white gold, ruby and diamond ring that I'd like valuated. It was my grandmother's, and I inherited it a couple years ago. Was hoping to get it appraised locally but so far have been unable to connect with anyone. It has two stamps on inside of band: 18K and T&Co. The ruby is marquise cut and measures approx 2cm (length) x 1.3cm (width) x 0.5cm (depth). There are 4 accent diamonds, 2 on each side of the ruby.
Previously owned by Dorothy Mae Saxton, my grandmother and/or Eugene Ellsworth Saxton, her husband and my grandfather. I have no paperwork or documentation due to a house fire that destroyed all of our important files, etc two years ago.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a beautiful ring. Such ruby white gold rings are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The ring has a lovely design with the large ruby in the middle flanked by diamonds. I believe the makers mark to be Tiffany & Co which is a very good jewellery maker guaranteeing good quality stones and good quality craftsmanship.
It is hard to tell from the photographs how clear the stone is however bearing the maker and the size in mind I believe that the quality must be quite good.
This a kind of ring that may surprise at auction with an even higher selling price than the estimate indicates.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online jewellery auction, where I believe the ruby ring has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the beautiful ring. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
