I have recently finished the restoration of a vintage steel billboard (photos below,) and have added some embellishment to the outer edges featuring current popular gate access side country areas to formerly blank borders at the sides. I believe this makes for an interesting anachronism. I even added the “patina of age” to these side panels to keep people guessing. Since you’re not located in Jackson Hole, I will explain. The billboard features the original tram from 1966, which was replaced with a larger sleeker version in 2008. Also, in 1998 Jackson Hole opened its “side country,” out of bounds areas without ski patrol oversight. Skiers can access these areas through gates at the top of the mountain. The fact that these areas were not accessible in 1966 is what makes their inclusion on the sign an anachronism, though there were technically 10 years where the old tram and side country access existed at the same time. So this piece is both vintage memorabilia and an artwork with local significance to the skiing public. I was wondering if you might be able to give me an idea of what it might be worth, as well as if you would be interested in purchasing it. It’s 10 feet wide and 4 feet tall. Please give me a call or shoot me an email if you’re interested. Thanks!
