According to sales tag, it is from Jay David Vancouver (an upscale clothing company doing business from 1960's-84), owned by Abe & Esther Nobleman which was located at Oakridge Shopping Centre. The store was previously owned by the owner's brother, and I'm unsure if the name was different prior to 1969. Tag says R1 - 6022, Blk & White - 6, $270.00
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a lovely and very well kept Oscar de la Renta suit. Vintage clothes and accessories from well known brands are collectors items.
The suit has a lovely elegance and fashionable look. It is very well kept with the original tags still intact and without any signs of age or wear. Stylewise it is from the 1960s-1970s when this type of womens suits were fashionable. The fabric has a lovely pattern and is complimented by the black and white background. The price is not as high as if it had been an evening gown as these were often unique however due to the condition and smart style this is a suit that would attract the attention of both collectors and dealers if it came up for auction.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online designer clothes auction, where I believe the Oscar de la Renta has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the suit. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
