This violin was my grandfathers from the 30's-40's. Bow is strung with horse hair.
30X10
I inherited this from my paternal grandfather. He was a savant as a child, but stoped playing when he became an adult.
Hi Scott,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Roth was a very well-respected violin maker and his full size violins typically bring $3,000 or more at auction if in good condition. Because this is a smaller size, it's not worth quite as much.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Guarneri reproduction three-quarter size violin
made by Ernst Heinrich Roth (1877–1948), dated 1924
with spruce front, maple scroll, back and neck, ebony fingerboard, tailpiece, tuning pegs and chinrest. Labled inside; together with horsehair bow and lined hard case.
overall length 30 inches, body 14 inches long, 10 inches wide
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: inherited
$2,000-3,000*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.

Very helpful, Scott, thanks and you're all set!
The name inside is in old cursive. Hard to make out. Maybe Eriesh Heinrich Roth 1924. There is a lot more written in there, but it is hard to make out. It then says it’s a reproduction of Joseph Guarnerius 1734. The body is 14 inches long. I’m certain I have all the spelling wrong but I did my best
