Hi Robert,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Violin (and viola/cello etc) labels are notoriously unreliable (see this link for a good explanation: https://stringsmagazine.com/an-insiders-guide-to-violin-labels/) but most violin's I've handled in my nearly 30-year career that have labels like this are early 20th Century copies of 18th Century masterworks, usually made for students.
The condition of this one is fair; it would be worth more if it had a fitted hardcase (if it does please include a photo) and let me know so I can update the value. In this condition and without a case, this has a value of about $100.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Joseph Guarneri style maple and spruce full-sized violin
early 20th Century
With spruce front and tiger maple back, ebonized fingerboard, tailpiece and chinrest, lacking one string, label inside inscribed "Joseph Guarnerius fecit / ---anno 1736 IHS"
23-1/2 inches overall length; body is 14 inches long.
CONDITION: In fair condition with a string missing.
PROVENANCE: Acquired at a flea market.
$75-125*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
