This is a sealed painting of a traditional watercolor with two cats.
I bought it as an estate sale on EBAY.
Hello Romana,
Thank you for your appraisal inquiry with Mearto. I apologize for the delay in your appraisal and thank you for your patience. The item presented appears to be a Chinese ink and gouache painting in the style of Xu Beihong (徐悲鴻, Chinese, 1895-1953). Beihong was very well-known for his cat depictions. Unfortunately, I am not able to translate the inscriptions seen on the work. I have reached out to a colleague for assistance but have not heard back yet. If they respond, I will add a comment to the thread. The estimate provided is based on recent auction estimates and results of comparable scroll paintings with depictions of cats, dating to the early 20th century. The estimate is contingent on a full condition report. Please note asking or dealer prices may vary. Thank you and please take care.
