Tampa Bay Devil Rays 2008 World Series Champion crystal baseball. It’s one of a kind unless Waterford has one in their vault.
3-3.5” diameter
At the time, Dillards had exclusive rights to promote TB Devil Rays Waterford baseballs. Our Advertising department was sent the ball so that we could photograph it for advertising 1000 numbered balls if they won. They did not and the buyer gave me the ball. I also have a ball that had the design they declined (they sent two prototypes) for their inaugural season. I also have the Franchise Awarded and Inaugural season balls that were used. All four balls are non-numbered. All other balls in circulation are numbered XX of 1000.
Hi Tony,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
There are a number of promotional crystal or glass baseballs that have come to market in (recent) years; the range of values they've sold for from $40-140. I can't tell if any of them are the prototypes as yours is but what it identifies is that there is a fairly limited and modest value for this kind of sports memorabilia.
Assuming that the prototype would be worth at least double, or $120-420
The rarity of the 2008 world series championship ball further increases it's value, to $200-300
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A group of three Waterford crystal for Tampa Bay Devil Rays promotional baseball prototypes
1995 and 1998
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition
PROVENANCE: original owner
$120-420 for the group*
