Hello, I purchased this original ink drawing at a estate sell. I was told that it is the works of Gabriel-Fernandez-Ledesma, his signature don’t match his works from what I can see. The size of the drawing is 19 1/2 x12 inches. Can you let me know if you find a signature of the artist which matches this one . Or if you believe it is his works or not his works of art. I would like to sell it with your upcoming auction if you think and is his works and is suitable for your auction. Thank You Diane 720-324-9381
I purchased at Estate sale was told it was a rare one of a kind.
Dear Diane,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be an ink drawing with a preliminary sketch in pencil on paper with the measurements of 12 x 19 1/2 inches. The drawing depicts a social critic scene and is signed with the name "Ledesma" and dated 1968. The motif, the style, and the signature are comparable with other works and drawings of the Mexican artist Gabriel Fernandez LEDESMA (1900-1983).
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 1.000 to 2.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Diane,
sadly I cannot tell you the title of this work. It needs to be titled by the artist himself in an exhibition or an writing on the artwork itself. It could be drawn on cardboard.
With kind regards,
Georg
I did not ask you the title of the artwork I have. I ASKED WHAT IS THE TITLE OF THE ARTWORKS YOU COMPARED THE SIGNATURE WITH MY PAINTING.
Thank You
Dear Diane,
Thank you for your email. The titles are: Calaveras, El Ingenio, Retrato de niño, Niños con papalote (Boceto), Candelabro, Cargador de cañas. Often these titles in auction result databases are descriptive titles of the auction houses or art dealers and not given by the artist himself.
With kind regards,
Georg
Do you have the tile of the artist works for which you use to reference his Signature to. And would the value be more if the works is done on a paper board. It’s not even a cm thick and it reads BOARD on the back.
