This is an original oil on canvas that I bought at a local auction. Someone mentioned that the owner was "remodeling" and was getting rid of all their art so I bought it all. This was one of the pieced. There used to be a blue piece of paper telling about the history of the artist, how she was a master apprentice and wanted art to be not just for the rich but for everyone, but I don't see it at the moment. The artist is signed "A. Julia," in the lower right corner. There are no rips or tears and until yesterday, it was covered with fabric and wrapped in plastic.
Canvas 24" x 34"
Hello, this item is an original oil on canvas by A. Julia, depicting a floral still life of white peonies or roses arranged in a vase. The painting’s composition is vertically oriented, emphasizing height and symmetry, with subtle tonal gradations that create a soft atmospheric background. The artist’s use of neutral browns, creams, and whites reflects a refined, decorative sensibility aligned with mid-20th-century studio painting traditions popular in Europe and the United States.
The canvas measures approximately 24 by 34 inches and is in excellent condition with no tears or paint losses. Works signed “A. Julia” appear periodically in decorative art auctions and are often attributed to artists active during the 1960s–1980s who produced works for private interiors rather than gallery exhibitions. Based on quality, subject matter, and market comparisons, this piece would be valued between USD 250 and 450 in the current decorative fine art market.
