Provenance

My mother recently passed away in Feb. and we are trying to prepare for an Estate Sale. I have been trying to pull those items that I think might have more value that most of the items in the house. We do not know who gave her this or if she inherited it from her mother or brother.

What does this mean?

Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be the porcelain sculpture " seagull in a storm" designed by Hans Achtziger in 1952, model number 8154, made in by the Hutschenreuther Kunstabteilung. It is rather difficult to cast and fire such a porcelain statue. The estimate is based on similar sold at auction. Prices in Germany appear to be a little higher compared to auction results in the USA.
