Patented July, 1886 lever action Winchester 12 gauge shotgun. Reblued.
My grandpa owned it and hunted with it. He was born in 1909 (est) and lived in Northern Idaho.
Dear kelley,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry, and I apologize for the delay. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a few more images of the entire gun, close ups of the barrel and any information stamped onto it, a photo of the gun with the action opened, and a photo of the serial number?
Thanks,
Bo Stuck
I just moved... UGH... that's the reason for my delay. Here are more images for your appraisal. It's all handy now, so if you need more just holler.
Thanks in advance,
Kelley Shewmaker
No worries!
This is a Winchester Model 1887 manufactured in 1896. This is one of the more unique Winchester actions, and it is commonly seen in pop-culture, despite the original guns being relatively rare. This particular piece is in overall good condition, with a well executed reblue having been performed at some point in its history. All of the markings and stamps are still perfectly legible. The wood also appears to have been refinished, and there is some shrinkage where it meets the metal. There was also some checkering added. The shotgun appears to be in good working order, and there is no active corrosion on any of the metal. Given the condition of this piece, and completed auctions of similar items, a fair market estimation is 800-850 dollars. Please reach out with any questions.
