Winter scene, possibly early America. Snow covered ground, trees, cabins. Woman hauling wood for burning. Very old framing techniques. There is a plaque on the lower front of the frame that says “ Cornelius Krieghoff “ .

Acquired from my mother, who acquired it from my grandmother, at least 40 years ago. It was given to her By her son, ( my uncle ), retired oil company owner, who bought it in Canada, while living in Calgary-Alberta.

This painting is made in a weaker style and a weaker quality than comparable artworks by Cornelius David KRIEGHOFF (1815-1872). Also, the canvas indicates and later dating than 1872.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided.
