Painting by W. Scott. It is in very good condition no damage. We have several paintings from a gentleman that moved to Ontario from England. I’m not sure when he came to Canada but he was in his 80’s I estimate back in the 1960’s

Hello, this item is a framed winter landscape painting signed W. Scott, likely a mid-20th-century decorative oil or acrylic painting on board or canvas panel. The composition depicts a snow-covered rural house beside a river, with a small bridge, bare trees, reflected light on the water, and a warm illuminated window, all typical of popular Canadian and northern European winter landscape subjects produced for domestic interiors. The style is representational and decorative, with careful attention to atmosphere and seasonal mood rather than an identifiable academic or listed-artist market. The signature W. Scott is not enough from the images provided to connect the painting securely to a known listed artist, so it should be valued as a decorative signed landscape rather than as a work by a recognized painter.
The painting appears to be in good, stable condition from the photographs, with no major losses, tears, or surface damage visible, and the gilt frame adds presentation value despite some ordinary age-related wear. The small size, approximately 12.5 x 15.5 inches, limits its auction value, but the subject is attractive and saleable, especially in Canada, where winter landscape scenes remain popular for decorative collecting. Without a documented artist biography, exhibition history, or gallery provenance, comparable signed mid-century decorative winter landscapes usually sell in the modest secondary-market range. Fair Market Value: $100 - $250 USD.
