Picture that was my grandmother's. Was framed by my mother. My mother said the picture is at least 100 years old.
Grandmother
This is an antique, late Victorian, circa 1900, framed color lithograph print featuring a 'bathing beauty' 'pin-up' girl clad in her beach attire while standing next to the edge of a body of water with waves crashing on to the beach. She is depicted in a tantalizing red and manages to pull off heels and stockings in a bathing frock while on the sandy beach. This is done in an illustrative style and would have likely been in a gentleman's shop or work space, or possibly a pub moreso than hanging in a common area for a family. For its time, it is a bit of a risque image. There does appear to have been some water damage to the print in areas, which does impact value. However, original period images featuring early bathing suit fashion does have its own niche collector market. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
