6ft long * 2.5ft wide Solid wood frame, wicker sides and fabric upholstered cushions. Made in Chile early 1900's, restored and re-upholstered in late 1990's.
Original owner was from Chile. Moved to Colombia where it was included in an estate sale when he passed away. My parents purchased it and gave it to me as a wedding gift. I had it restored and re-upholstered, and shipped to the US in the late 90's.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a beautiful antique wicker and wood sofa. Such antique sofas are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
As you write yourself the sofa was made in the early 1900s. Your provenance tells us that it was made in Chile. This particular type of sofa was also often seen in France made in dark carved mahogany with rococo details and ornaments. It looks very comfortable and in good condition, however it is not the most sought after piece of furniture at present.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised furniture auction, where I believe the sofa has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the sofa. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
