This chair was given to me in around 2009 by a doctor in Rochester, NY who no longer wanted it. I would like to donate it but want to first check on its potential . It does not appear to ever have been restored and does suffer from some damage—particularly scratches on the wood. Multiple pictures are attached. There are no markers or labels from the manufacturer.
Hand me down from a co-worker in Rochester NY in 2009
Dear Jen,
This is a lovely Eastlake Rocking Chair, made circa 1890. It is named after the style which was made popular by British architect and furniture designer, Charles Eastlake. The attributes of his style include bits of the Arts and Crafts and the Gothic Styles which can be seen in the carving and applied decoration on the crest of this piece. At auction this type of chair sells for an average of $50USD.
Thank you for your submission, do let me know if you have any follow-up questions.
Sincerely,
Erin-Marie
