Hello Virginia,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Anatolian Çanakkale Style Rug, wowen in a local knotting stand. The high precision and the exact symmetr on the piece indicates a stand knotting which is a sort of local and ancient machine used in knotting of textile materials. The piece is not entirely hand knotted and does not appear to be in this characteristics. It can be considered as a flatweave piece with it's thin physical features. The composition of the piece is composed of classical Anatolian motifs. The piece has three chest motifs on it aligned in a central position. At both ends and on each edge of the central decoration we can detect "Scorpion" motifs. Geometrical flowers aurroundering the central are is visible. The base colour of the central area is a light red, while the base colour of the borders are a dark blue. The piece is knotted wool on wool. The piece is in good condition with a small hole on the rug.
Entirely hand knotted.
