Hello Larry,

I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,

Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Woven Zapotec Style Blanket Rug made in Mexico. The piece likely dates back to the period from 1990-1999. The piece was specifically made in the village of Teotitlan del Valle by the weaver Evaristo Martinez. The piece is has an eclectic design with motifs of the Zapotec Culture from pre-hispanic houses to northern caves. famously known "Kokopelli Flute Players" were also depicted on the piece. Flute players were depicted on a Beige based border while others were depicted in the central area within stripes, the figures from the northern caves were depicted at the center on a dark blue base. The piece's pile was made 30% of Wool and 70% of Mohair. The colours used on the piece were from the Sandoz Company in Switzerland and they're acid rugs. There was only 25 copies of this piece was produced with the design pattern number "5". The piece was designed by Mary Ann Nibbelink. The piece has a very detailed and explanotary certificate with it. The piece appears to be in good condition without any visible damages or problems.
