Hi Thurston,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This appraisal was a blast to the past for me...my brother had one when we were growing up...
The EZ skateboard model was produced by EZ-RYDER Skateboards, a company founded in 1976 by Kent Sherwood—Jay Adams’ stepfather—after a split from the original Zephyr team. Sherwood, who had experience in fiberglass manufacturing, collaborated with Adams and other former Zephyr team members to create this new line of skateboards. The EZ-RYDER brand was short-lived; within six months, it was renamed Z-Flex Skateboards, a name that continues to be recognized in the skateboarding community today.
The EZ model represented an evolution in skateboard design, incorporating fiberglass construction to enhance performance and durability. These innovations contributed to the development of skateboards better suited for the aggressive and vertical styles of skating that were emerging at the time. The legacy of the EZ model and its influence on skateboard design persisted through Z-Flex's continued innovations, such as the introduction of concave deck designs and improved wheel formulas.
The secondary vintage skateboard market is a bit underground - it's one of those markets that is dominated by insiders and riders; when these boards come to auction they usually sell far more modestly (typically between $100-150) than what inside sellers can get (according to online posting boards and specialists I know in the business).
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
