Hi Callista,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Founded in 1900 in Indiana, Hobart M. Cable was once a respected U.S. piano maker producing uprights, grands, and player pianos. However, the original company declined over time. It's important to note that it was acquired by the Story and Clark Piano Company, then the America Sejung Corp., which retained the name of Hobart M. Cable.
It's rare to find a Hobart Cable piano of any form from so early in their production come up at auction but there have been a few such early baby grand pianos and those that have sold have achieved prices ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 in as-is condition. As you note this has been restored, it would likely bring closer to $3,000 and $5,000.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto.
